Associacao de Apoio as Meninas E Meninos da Regiao Se (AA Crianca or AAC)

The harsh, violent conditions youth living in São Paulo slums face affect their school performance, with such students being four times more likely to repeat a grade. Founded in 1992, AA Criança (The Association to Support Girls and Boys), works to protect the most at-risk children and adolescents living in the slums of São Paulo, using arts education to teach about human and legal rights, domestic violence, drug trafficking, and serves as a care and reference center for the most vulnerable.

EMpower’s second grant to Associacao de Apoio as Meninas E Meninos da Regiao Se (AA Crianca or AAC) allows them to work with 80 youth and their families to prevent domestic violence, provide specialized support to pregnant adolescent girls and young mothers, while also providing job guidance and links to professional training.
