Creating Resources for Empowerment in Action (CREA)

About half of Indian girls are married before the legal minimum age of 18, and in rural India, contraception is scarce and its use is frequently under the control of men or mothers-in-law. Through grassroots leadership development, technical assistance, and advocacy and research, CREA works to advance women’s human rights, in areas such as reproductive rights, violence against women, and sexuality.

EMpower’s second grant to CREA will add to their existing cohort of girls and expand their “Count Me In – It’s my Body” program, which uses sports to mobilize and empower adolescent girls, to strengthen the skills and knowledge of 375 girls (of which 125 are new) on issues relevant to their lives.
