Development and Education Programme for Daughters and Communities (DEPDC)

DEPDC is a non-profit community based NGO working in Thailand to prevent the trafficking of women and children into the sex industry or other exploitative child labor. They offer free education, vocational training and full time accommodation for young girls and boys in an effort to achieve these goals.

In 2006 EMpower’s grant helped DEPDC provide opportunities for participants in its Mekong Youth Network leadership training program to gain real-world experience in project management and community development. Youth led their own micro-projects to combat the root causes of human trafficking in local communities in the Mekong region.
