Shanduka Black Umbrellas

Black Umbrellas promotes employment and economic development by providing “back office” support to micro-entrepreneurs and extends micro-credit to participants so they can jumpstart their business and can focus on developing their core services and building their client base. From 2006-2009, Black Umbrellas has used EMpower grants to provide support for over 120 skilled workers from disadvataged backgrounds to start their own businesses and employ over 600 individuals as employees.
