La Asociación Civil Pro Niño Intimo's (ACPNI) uses soccer as a means to teach disadvantaged children and youth in greater Lima about citizenship, rights and identity. The program also includes complementary education, arts education, livelihoods skills training, health, and nutrition. EMpower’s grant to ACPNI (2007-8) provided partial support for the organization's Program for Schools of Sport and Life (Programa Escuelas Deporte y Vida), which combines livelihoods skills training, access to an after-school library, and vaccination and health campaigns.
