FFSC provides material and social support to students and their families, and trains students in life and vocational skills to complement their school based education. EMpower's grant to FFSC will enable it to continue its work supporting families to integrate youth into the local public school. EMpower's last grant allowed FFSC to cement a partnership with the local public school allowing mainstreaming of migrant youth into regular classes. Of the nearly 200 youth mainstreamed, over 90% successfully completed their first year of instruction and were promoted to the next grade.
With the current grant from EMpower, FFSC will furnish and equip their new Binh An Community Center and shelter for disadvantaged children and youth (primarily migrants), provide seed capital and training for their new social enterprise, a photo shop and studio run by youth, and provide further training and exchange opportunities to increase the capacity of FFSC staff.
