EMpower UK Awareness Dinner a Huge Success!

Thanks to many new supporters in the UK, and a very generous and committed supporter there, we were able to raise over £200,000 in London last week.

At an Awareness Dinner hosted by the UK Board held on the 16th, a donor who wishes to remain anonymous challenged guests by offering to match all contributions made that evening up to £100,000. It was remarkable to see that, on the day after the Lehman and Merrill news, and then the AIG bailout, we were able to raise that amount in a matter of minutes. This was the most successful fundraising event in EMpower’s history! The evening included special guest, Ikoghode Ehita Fatima of Girls’ Power Initiative (GPI), an EMpower grantee in Nigeria, who gave a first hand look at how EMpower support is helping to enhance girls’ opportunities for brighter futures.

Thank you to all who participated. With the success of our UK Board hosted event we have now now raised just over half of our Campaign Goal of $750,000. Please help us continue our work without interruption and consider giving as generously as you can.
